Membership Information


The Colorado Psychological Association is the Representative Voice of Psychology in Colorado.

Founded on October 23, 1946, the Colorado Psychological Association (CPA) represents all sectors and specialty areas within the field of psychology.  Colorado psychologists demonstrate their commitment to psychology as a vital profession of the highest standards through their membership and participation in the CPA.

CPA is a statewide organization with hundreds of active members. Given this diversity, CPA is able to respond to the needs of Colorado's citizens. When you join CPA, you become a part of the national and statewide efforts to increase public knowledge of the unique qualifications and expertise of psychologists, and to advocate for psychology and mental health.

Membership Levels

  • Full Member - $289.00 (USD)  

  • Student Member - $32.00 (USD) 
    The applicant can demonstrate current enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate or intern via a current transcript. Student membership status shall be reviewed each year during the dues renewal period.


  • Early Career Psychologists 1st Year - $74.00 (USD) 
    Early Career Psychologists are entitled to discounted membership based on the number of years elapsed since receipt of doctoral degree. If it has been more than 5 years since you received your doctoral degree, please select the Full Member rate.


  • Early Career Psychologists 2nd Year - $147.00 (USD) 
    Early Career Psychologists are entitled to discounted membership based on the number of years elapsed since receipt of doctoral degree. If it has been more than 5 years since you received your doctoral degree, please select the Full Member rate.


  • Early Career Psychologists 3rd Year - $147.00 (USD)
    Early Career Psychologists are entitled to discounted membership based on the number of years elapsed since receipt of doctoral degree. If it has been more than 5 years since you received your doctoral degree, please select the Full Member.


  • Early Career Psychologists 4th Year - $221.00 (USD)
    Early Career Psychologists are entitled to discounted membership based on the number of years elapsed since receipt of doctoral degree. If it has been more than 5 years since you received your doctoral degree, please select the Full Member rate.


  • Early Career Psychologists 5th Year - $289.00 (USD) 
    Early Career Psychologists are entitled to discounted membership based on the number of years elapsed since receipt of doctoral degree. If it has been more than 5 years since you received your doctoral degree, please select the Full Member rate.

  • Master’s Level Associate Member - $137.00 (USD) 
    The applicant has evidence of receipt of a master’s degree with a major concentration in Psychology or its equivalent, from an accredited graduate school or is otherwise licensed to practice Psychotherapy in the State of Colorado.


  • Associate Member Out-of-State - $137.00 (USD) 
    The applicant has evidence of receipt of the doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited graduate school and lives out of state.


  • Exempt Life Member - Free 
    Unlimited. This membership is open to members who have retired from the practice of psychology and who are recommended by the Membership Committee and approved for this status by a majority of a quorum of the Board of Directors.

  • Life Contributing Member - $126.00 (USD) 
    This membership is open to members who are 65 or older, are actively engaged in the practice of Psychology, and who are recommended by the Membership Committee and approved for this status by a majority of a quorum of the Board of Directors. Annual dues may be reduced up to one-half of the prevailing Full Member rate if the Member is working half time or less.

Important Membership Information

By completing the application (online or paper), you authorize the release of your CPA Membership Application, and any additional material you may have submitted to support that application, to the CPA Membership Committee, Association Management, and CPA Board Leaders, who transmit and store the data you submit in a variety of electronic archives. If you answered “yes” to any one or more of the four Professional Ethics Declaration questions in the application, please note that this material may be released to the CPA Ethics committee for their review in order for them to make a recommendation to the CPA Membership Committee and/or the CPA Board of Directors as to the status of your application. Missing or false information may lead to denial or revocation of membership. If your application is accepted, you agree to abide by the rules, policies, and bylaws of the Colorado Psychological Association and the Ethical Principles of the American Psychological Association as interpreted by the Association.

Your membership is under review for your first month of membership. Your application information will be sent to our Membership Approval Committee in order to vet our members for any DORA actions. If there are any complications or need for further information, CPA will reach out to you directly. 

 The CPA Office sends out emails notifying members of their membership expiration date. Any member who fails to pay the membership dues shall be dropped from membership, unless the Board of Directors votes otherwise.
