Description: Take a look back at CPA's plan to pursue legislation to grant prescriptive authority (RxP) to licensed psychologists with advanced degrees and training in prescribing psychotropic medications to increase access to appropriate mental health treatment for Coloradans. As part of the strategic planning, CPA is planning to provide a series of webinars targeting the education about the historical background of RxP and the future direction for this needed effort. In this CE credit webinar, we have two prescribing psychologists from New Mexico, which is the first state in the nation to grant RxP to psychologists. We are excited to hear from the experts on their experience with the legislative process in New Mexico and how we can incorporate their success into our needs in Colorado.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the current status of granting prescriptive authority to specially trained psychologists (RxP) in Colorado
  • Discuss the historical background and current status of RxP in New Mexico
  • Discuss the future direction of the RxP effort in Colorado and beyond
