Denise C. Vargas, PsyD, CHPP is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a native of Colorado. She received her B.A. from the University of Colorado in 1999, her masters in 2003 from The American School of Professional Psychology, and her doctorate in 2006 from Argosy University of San Francisco, California. She is the lead Clinical Psychologist for the Women's Transition Unit, the High Acuity Unit and Student Training Director of Denver Health Hospital Authority, Behavioral Health Corrections. Dr. Vargas also works in private practice specializing in the treatment of addiction and trauma. Adams County Fire Department and the National Basketball Association have contracted with Dr. Vargas to provide treatment with their agencies due to her expertise. Her achievements include the development of the female-focused treatment unit for the Denver Sheriff's Department and her advocacy to improve the services provided to mentally ill female offenders both inside and outside of corrections. Her most rewarding and challenging role is being the mother of amazing and high spirited 6-year-old twin boys.
