Request for Proposals (RFP) Speaker and Poster Presentations on Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

Introduction:

The Colorado Psychological Association (CPA) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for presentations at a day-long symposium focused on Psychedelic Assisted Therapy. This event aims to explore the latest research, best practices, ethical and legal considerations surrounding the integration of psychedelics into mental health treatment.

CPA looks forward to receiving innovative proposals that will contribute to a dynamic and informative symposium on psychedelic assisted therapy. Thank you for your interest and contributions to this important conversation in mental health care.

Symposium Objectives:

  • To examine current research findings on the efficacy and safety of psychedelic assisted therapy (considerations for difference in medicines, risks and benefits to certain populations, etc).
  • To explore best practices and protocols for the clinical application of psychedelic assisted therapy.
  • To discuss ethical considerations and legal frameworks and regulatory issues relevant to the practice of psychedelic assisted therapy in Colorado.

  • Date: October or November 2024
  • Location: TBD Venue
  • Audience: Mental health professionals, researchers, educators, policy makers, and students interested in learning more about psychedelic assisted therapy.

  • Deadline for Proposal Submissions: August 1, 2024
  • Notification of Acceptance: August 15, 2024
  • Symposium Date: Tentatively November 4, 2024

SPEAKER PROPOSALS

Possible Presentation Topics:

The symposium seeks proposals on a range of topics related to psychedelic assisted therapy, including but not limited to:

  1. Clinical Applications of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy: Evidence-based approaches, therapeutic techniques, and case studies.
  2. Neurobiological Mechanisms: Understanding the neural correlates of psychedelic experiences and their therapeutic effects.
  3. Ethical Guidelines: Considerations for informed consent, therapist training, and harm reduction in psychedelic therapy.
  4. Legal Landscape: Current regulations, policy developments, and implications for mental health professionals.
  5. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Addressing cultural competency, accessibility, and social justice in psychedelic therapy practice.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Include a title, abstract (250 words max), and a brief bio of the presenter(s).
  • Submissions will be evaluated based on relevance, clarity, and scientific rigor.

  • Title: Clearly state the title of your poster.
  • Abstract: Provide a 250-word abstract summarizing your poster.
  • Presenter CV: Provide the Curriculum Vita for the poster presenter.

Submissions will be evaluated based on relevance, clarity, and scientific rigor. All student posters will be considered for a Student Poster Award.

Poster Guidelines

If your proposal is accepted, please adhere to the following guidelines for your poster submission:

  1. PDF of the Poster: Required; recommended size is 36″ x 48″.
  2. Brief Summary: A one-paragraph summary of the poster is optional but recommended.
  3. Availability for Comments: Presenters must attend the symposium to present their posters.
