 Join CPA or Renew

New members are required to fill out a new member application form. This is done online, but approval by the CPA Membership committee takes up to 2-4 weeks.

This delay allows us to verify student or professional standing. No fees are collected until approval. Please see the alternate paper-based application for rates and details.

Current, or previously approved renewing members will be directed to our online payment area via Google Checkout.

 Benefits of CPA Membership

Support Legislative Advocacy

During the state legislative sessions, CPA represents psychologists through its lobbyist and CPA member volunteers who serve on the very active Legislative Committee. The goal is to expand and protect the unique characteristics of the practice of psychology under state law. Strong liaisons are maintained with the American Psychological Association, federal and state legislators, boards and agencies, allied health/mental health organizations and the media in the service of advocating most effectively for the profession of psychology. Your membership considerably strengthens our voice at the legislature, as the more psychologists we represent, the louder our voice.

Advertise Through the Statewide Referral Service

As a member of CPA, you are eligible to be listed in the CPA Referral Service at no additional cost. This service is also hosted on the web site under "Find a Psychologist.” Community members call the CPA Office or search the online database to be matched with psychologists on the basis of clinical needs and the location of the practice.

Free Ethics and Professional Review Consultation

The Ethics Committee provides an on-call service for persons with questions, dilemmas, or complaints.  The primary function of the Ethics Committee is to enlighten our colleagues and promote ethical conduct by helping them interpret and apply the APA “Ethical Principals of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.”  To access the Ethics Committee on-call service, simply call the CPA office to obtain the contact information.

Network with Other Psychologists and Students

CPA presents many opportunities to meet colleagues, expand professional contacts and work together on areas of common interest. Conferences and social events happen regularly. The Colorado Psychologist, our bi-monthly newsletter, and the “Members Only” section of the website connect members to regional, state and national psychology news and developments. Volunteering with a committee or taskforce is always welcomed and a great way to get involved.

Access Publications

CPA publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, The Colorado Psychologist, which contains commentaries by the President of CPA, articles addressing the national and state issues affecting psychologists, ethical issues, clinical theories and advancements, notices of upcoming events, job listings, classified ads and special features like interviews, book reviews and reports. Issues of The Colorado Psychologist dating back to 2004 are available through our website archive.

Receive Discounts on Programs, Conferences, and Services.

The cost of CPA continuing education programs are discounted for members. Continuing Education credits lower malpractice liability premiums for some of the major companies insuring psychologists.  Local service providers also often offer discounts to CPA members.
