Please take two minutes today to urge your U.S. Senators and Representatives to pass bipartisan appropriations bills that protect critical investments in psychology education, research, and behavioral health services by January 30, 2026.

These programs are essential to meeting the growing mental health needs of individuals and families nationwide. Failure to provide adequate funding would fall hardest on vulnerable communities, including people with disabilities, veterans and rural communities. While Congress advanced funding bills for some agencies, legislation is still needed in the House and Senate for most of the federal agencies that cover psychology programs.

Additionally, it is crucial that Congress hears constituents on the need to assert its oversight responsibilities. The funding allocated by Congress must be appropriately disbursed to programs and departments as outlined in funding bills. For example, although recent attempts by the administration to terminate mental health and substance use grant funding were reversed, this underscores the need to finalize FY
2026 appropriations now. As funding negotiations advance, Congress must exercise its constitutional authority to prevent such unilateral decisions Protecting this authority is essential to preserving accountability and ensuring that funding decisions reflects the
will of the people – not unchecked executive choices.

Your action matters to prevent disruptions to programs that train the behavioral health workforce, advance scientific research, and provide equitable access to care and education. Congress faces a deadline of January 30 to finalize funding. Urge your Senators and Representative today to work across party lines and pass bipartisan appropriations bills that fully fund programs key to psychology.

Every message counts - act now to protect these critical programs.

Envision:You LGBTQ+ Behavioral Health Provider Training Program

LGBTQ+ individuals experience higher rates of mental health disparities and often experience troubling encounters when mental health providers do not fully understand or appreciate the concerns that stem from being a part of a marginalized community. To address these needs, Envision:You developed a multi-level training program that can be delivered online or in-person to address implicit and explicit biases that exist among behavioral health practitioners that hinder so many in their recovery process. The Envision:You program is designed to help behavioral health professionals develop new skills and gain critical knowledge to enhance the delivery of quality, culturally relevant services and identify affirming behavioral health interventions for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Envision:You is offering all CPA members 25% off of all training courses in their catalog. You can register for the training at envisionyoubhptp.talentlms.com. Use the code ‘CPA25’ for 25% off when purchasing the training.

Thanks to a grant from the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration Envision:You is also able to provide free and discounted training through the next fiscal year to providers and health care organizations that qualify. Fill out the interest form here if you are interested in this opportunity.

Any provider who completes Level 1 and Level 2 of the training also has the opportunity to take one of our population-specific modules at no additional cost, focused on working with one of the following populations: Transgender & Gender Diverse Communities, LGBTQ+ Youth, LGBTQ+ Older Adults, and LGBTQ+ Communities of Color.

For more information you can visit the program page on the Envision:You website at envision-you-training.org. You can contact Marie Hafner at [email protected] with any questions.
