CPA - Representative, Responsive, Relevant

 Founded on October 23, 1946, CPA represents all sectors and specialty areas within the field of psychology. Colorado psychologists demonstrate their commitment to psychology as a vital profession of the highest standards through their membership and participation in CPA.

 CPA is a statewide organization with hundreds of active members. Given this diversity, CPA is able to respond to the needs of Colorado’s citizens. When you join CPA, you become a part of the national and statewide efforts to increase public knowledge of the unique qualifications and expertise of psychologists, and to advocate for psychology and mental health.

 The Colorado Psychological Association is the representative voice of psychology in Colorado. Its mission is to advance psychology as a science and a profession that promotes human and social welfare through the ethical application of psychological principles.

 CPA:

·     Brings together diverse constituencies within psychology to establish a common voice.

·     Provides forums for the exchange of information and opinion about psychological and societal issues.

·     Advocates for psychologists’ interests with local, state and federal law makers.

·     Represents psychology to the public in affiliation with the American Psychological Association and other groups with whom we share goals.

·     Informs, coordinates activities for and responds to the needs of CPA members.

·     Offers mentoring, role modeling and career advice to psychology students.

·     Provides consultation on ethical matters

·     Attends to areas of special interest to members including mind/body issues, diversity issues, disaster response, public education and scope of practice issues.
